The Weather Not The Forecast

12/20/2013

This newsletter is going to give you the decisions (the Weather) of the session.  The purpose of this short, quick, to the point letter is not to give you the deliberations or even topics that are being talked about at the session meeting (the Forecast).   To quote Si, from Duck Dynasty, this newsletter will be the the “facts, Jack.”  We will send this out via email, post it on our website, and have hard copies for people on the information wall at the church.  I am convinced we cannot communicate too much or too often.     This will not be an exhaustive list of events or ministries; just some highlights.  I encourage you to stay current by making yourself aware of what is happening at Covenant Presbyterian Church.   If you see dates of upcoming events put them on your calendar so you can show up or, at the very least, pray for that event.

As always, I operate on an “Open Door Policy.”  My door is always open so please drop by, call, text, email--anytime.  We are in this journey together.

Celebration of Lord’s Supper—We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the First Sunday of each month starting January 5, 2014.

Evening Worship Service starting January 2014—We will begin an evening worship service the third (3rd) Sunday of every month.  The dates for those services are as follows: January 19, February 16, March 16, April 20, May 18, and June 15.  We will worship, we will pray, we will preach, and we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at each of these services.  The service starts at 5:30.  Please plan to join us.

January 5, 2014--John Sutton will preach on the verse of the year.

Verse Of The Year 2014

1 Thessalonians 2:8 “…Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” (NIV)

Women’s Morning Study Group-- Carolyn Wyatt will be leading a study entitled Idols on  Wednesday morning for 9 weeks.  The study begins at 9:30am. starting January 15, 2014.

REAL Ministries (tutoring Ministry) January 15, 2014—We still need some volunteers to help with this great outreach opportunity.  Please talk with Barbara McAlister.

Quarterly Ministry Meal 2014—We will have a church wide potluck (potsovereign) meal following the worship service on the following Sundays:   February 2, May 4, August 3, and November 2.  The church will provide the drink and meat and we ask that you each bring a side to accompany the meal.  We will also highlight two ministries at these meals to give us a glimpse of what is happening.

Mission Conference—We will have a mission conference, February 9, 2014, with Jim Bland speaking.

Presbytery—We will host Metro Atlanta Presbytery May 6, 2014—Randy Pope, pastor of Perimeter Church, is scheduled to preach.
