Jamie Lambert | Senior Pastor

Jamie was born and raised in Appalachia, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2000.
Jamie joined the staff of Covenant Presbyterian Church in April 2003 as the Director of Student Ministries. He was part of the inaugural class of Metro Atlanta Seminary and graduated in November 2010 with a Masters of Divinity.
Covenant called Jamie as the Associate Pastor and Minister of Youth in November 2010. He was licensed to preach in November 2010 and was ordained to the gospel ministry in the Presbyterian Church in America in February 2011. In February 2012, he was called as Senior Pastor.
Jamie married his beautiful wife, Bethany, in November 2006. They have triplet boys: Whit, Tate, and Mack.

Marcus Dorsey | Pastoral Intern

Marcus was born in Atlanta and raised in Fayetteville, Georgia. Since his youth, Marcus has attended Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he professed faith in Christ at an early age, and sensed a call to ministry at the age of 16. Marcus has served in various ministries here at Covenant and at Covenant College, where he graduated as a History major in 2021. Currently, he is pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary, Atlanta. Marcus married Nance in May 2023. Nance also grew up at Covenant and faithfully serves in Covenant Children’s Ministry.

Liz Heaton | Office Administrator

Liz was born in Cuba and came to America with her family at age of 10 years old. She lived in Miami for 18 years and has lived in Georgia for over 20 years.
Liz worked as an office professional for over 13 years, specializing in management and customer service.
Liz and her late husband, George, have two children, Brandon and Emely. Since 2003, Liz has been a faithful Christian.

Marty Alexander | Music Director

Marty Alexander has performed at many churches and other venues throughout Georgia. He has served as organist at Covenant since 1996. He has accompanied the Southern Crescent Chorale on the Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ at Spivey Hall on several occasions, including the Faure Requiem.
Marty has an Associate of Arts (Summa Cum Laude) from Brewton Parker College, Bachelor of Church Music (Cum Laude) from Shorter College, and Master of Church Music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Marty resides in Fayetteville with his wife, Denise Shannon Alexander. They have three adult children: Blake, Brett, and Brooke.

Mary Clark | Children's Ministry Director

Mary was born in New Ulm, Minnesota and grew up on a dairy/chicken farm. She moved to Athens, Georgia to attend graduate school in entomology at the University of Georgia, where she met Steve. They got married in 1986 and Mary started teaching high school science. After several years of teaching, Mary decided to stay home with their three children: Kathryn, Stephanie, and Chris. Mary and Steve have been involved in children’s ministry at the churches
they attended in Athens and Newnan.
In 2001 Mary and Steve moved to Fayetteville, Georgia and started to attend Covenant Presbyterian Church. They were involved in the children’s ministries including nursery, teaching Sunday school, directing Vacation Bible School, teaching Pioneer classes, and helping with Camp Covenant.
Mary returned to the classroom to teach Chemistry and STEM classes for Fayette County Public Schools in 2008. She retired from teaching in May 2021 and has been filling her free time playing Pickleball, traveling to National Parks, and doing home improvement projects.

Mark was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and grew up in Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Auburn University and Alabama Aviation and Technical College.
Mark met Celeste, his wife of 34 years, at Auburn. After getting married, Mark and Celeste moved to Eagan, Minnesota, where Mark worked for Northwest Airlines as an aircraft mechanic in Minneapolis. They attended and were members of Parkwood Presbyterian Church in Apple Valley, Minnesota. In 1992, they moved to the Atlanta area to continue Mark's aviation maintenance career with Delta Air Lines. Mark and Celeste joined Covenant at this time as well. Mark is currently an engine inspector at Delta Tech Ops.
Mark and Celeste have two daughters, Olivia and Aubrey, and two sons-in-law, Miles and Cade.

Jerry Hitchell | Facilities Manager

Jerry grew up in a small town in Illinois and joined the U.S. Air Force after high school. He was stationed at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs. He then moved to Durango, Colorado, where he met Mary Carol, his wife. He worked as a new home and remodeling contractor until switching careers back to aircraft maintenance. This meant a move to Broomfield, CO to attend Colorado Aero Tech. Upon graduation, the family relocated to Fayetteville. He worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Delta Airlines for 25 years and retired Dec 2012.
Jerry and his family have been long time members of Covenant, where he has served as Deacon for several terms. His children, Sylvia and Eric, grew up in the church and participated in all of the youth activities. Mary Carol has been active on the WIC
Council. They welcomed their first grandchild in October 2013.

Daniel van der Hoek | Accompanist

Daniel was born in Anoka, Minnesota in 2005. He grew up in the Fayetteville, Georgia area after he and his family moved back to Georgia in 2014.
At the age of 5, Daniel began piano lessons- learning to read musical notes at the same time as the alphabet. He has never stopped playing and improving his skills. Outside of church, he enjoys playing classical music on the piano. During the week, he is a instructor at Master Shim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do. He plans to graduate from high school in 2024.
Since 2021, he has been the piano accompanist for the evening service at Covenant. He also plays in the morning service at times.

Peggy Hutcheson | Women's Ministry Coordinator

Peggy was born in Atlanta and has lived in the metro area all of her life. She met her husband (Buddy) in high school, and they married soon after she finished her
undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Georgia. A life-long learner, Peggy went on to achieve both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Adult Learning. After a ten-year career in Public Relations, she founded her own firm to offer learning design and training skills for corporate and non-profit organizations, nationally and internationally. Currently, she is a Professor at Kennesaw State University.
Peggy, Buddy, and their two children, Anne Marie and Laura, moved to Fayetteville and were among the earliest members of Covenant. Peggy has served Covenant in numerous ways including Chair of the Christian Education Committee, leader of Children’s
Church, president of WIC Council, and church Historian. Her interest in Women’s Ministry stems from work with her friend and neighbor, Susan Hunt. Together they authored the book Leadership for Women in the Church emphasizing the need for women to exercise their God-given gifts. Peggy and Buddy now live in Atlanta, where they are close to their children and two grandchildren.
