On September 1st, Jack was surprised during the worship service by a resolution from the Session:
WHEREAS, Mr. John H. Stillman, “Jack”, has faithfully served Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 35 years as the Church Treasurer, Groundskeeper, and Building Committee Chairman; and, Whereas, during this period, he has exemplified professionalism, integrity, and competence of the highest standard in every area in which he has worked; and, Whereas, Jack has proven his proficiency in all areas of church accounting including, but not limited to, being a trusted business and financial advisor, paying astute attention to details, and keeping excellent records with practices exceeding the highest ethical standards; and, Whereas, Jack possesses an extensive knowledge of the Covenant grounds and landscape and has continuously kept up with the maintenance requirements all these years and, further, possesses extensive knowledge, skill, and experience not equaled; and, Whereas, Jack has maintained a long lasting relationship with Covenant’s building projects and pays constant attention to the condition and upgrades and long term goals of the building, grounds, and the master plan; and, Whereas, he has earned our complete trust by his faithful and conscientious performance of the work required, with great attention given to the aesthetics of the building and grounds, and due diligence in financial detail and reporting, and all this without any remuneration; and, Whereas, his vast knowledge and skills have enabled him to perform a broad range of complex tasks which has benefited the church in the past, the present, and for the future; and, Whereas, Jack’s indispensable advice, tireless efforts, and highest quality of work has earned him the greatest respect for his capabilities. Be it therefore resolved that the Session of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville, Georgia, expresses its heartfelt appreciation and high commendation to John H. “Jack” Stillman in recognition of his exemplary and faithful service to the Lord and to Covenant PCA, And, be it further resolved that we give praise to our Sovereign God for Jack’s humble service; and, because of his labors and forward thinking, Covenant Presbyterian Church is on sound financial footing and will serve and inspire for generations to come.
