Duties, responsibilities, work emphases:
Lauren began her full-time missionary work in January of 2020 in Odessa, Ukraine, arriving (see photo above) just ahead of the Covid-19 global pandemic two months later. Lauren had previously served a summer internship in L’viv, Ukraine a couple of years ago. Towards the end of that two-month summer period, she felt an intense desire to serve the people of Ukraine. She will take her skills as an art teacher learned from studies at Georgia State and teaching elementary and middle school in San Antonio, Texas, and transfer them along with new skills (such as language) to teach at a missionary kid school and work as a teacher and mentor with students through the Genesis English Club program. PCA’s ministry in Odessa began in 1993 and through church planting has developed into 12 congregations, 11 ordained national pastors, and 48 seminary students at Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine (in Kiev/Kyiv). The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine (EPCU) was organized in 2008.
A Little Bit Personal:
Favorite pastimes:
Journaling
Praying
Baking
Cooking
Reading
and Napping
Favorite food: Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies hot from the oven, dessert in general, Mediterranean cuisine… actually, just cuisine in general.
Prayer needs (or points of focus):
Good health: Odessa, like the rest of Ukraine, has been affected by the Covid-19 virus.
Genesis English Club: That we would build deep and lasting relationships with the students and present to them the Gospel in word and deed.
Language training and learning.
