Dan is the ELI Project Director for Ghana and is responsible for all of ELI’s activities in-country. This means he develops and maintains relationships with church leaders in Ghana, seeks openings for teaching, and recruits instructors from the U.S.
Dan personally conducts conferences on various Biblical topics (Marriage, Leadership, Romans, Covenant Theology) providing Biblical instruction to a variety of groups and denominations within Ghana. In addition, he recruits part-time seminary-level instructors to teach classes at two separate Miami International Seminary (MINTS) learning centers that ELI helped to start. (These schools function in cooperation with MINTS, which provides the administrative structure and ELI provides the instructors.) They teach 3-4 seminary classes during each ministry trip - in February, July, and September.
Dan’s desire is to take the Biblical and theological heritage of the Reformation received by the Western Church and transfer that heritage to locations where the Church is growing dramatically (like West Africa), for its establishment and strengthening. Consequently, his focus is on leadership training, equipping leaders for the church in Ghana with both practical Biblical knowledge and strong theological education.
In addition to regular teaching in West Africa, Dan also has written curricula on Romans, Church History, and Covenant Theology that are used by ELI staff and national instructors throughout the world. The book form of the curriculum on Covenant Theology, entitled Our Covenant God, is slated to be published in Spanish in early 2019. [The English version is available at Amazon in Kindle format.]
The past couple of years, Dan has been privileged to minister in Bolivia under the auspices of Latin American Reformed Seminary. He also serves regularly as a visiting lecturer in Church History at RTS Atlanta.
A little bit personal:
Dan’s overriding goal at this stage in his life is to know Christ more deeply (cf. Phil. 3:8-11). By His grace, he also enjoys reading, travel, music (especially jazz), hiking, and spending time with their grandchildren. His reading tastes are eclectic and run from Science Fiction to Theology to Church History to biographies. He likes a wide variety of foods (a good thing in Africa!), but particularly enjoys Mediterranean cuisine. As for education, Susan and he both graduated from Cedarville University, Ohio. She has a MA degree in Special Education and is a certified Educational Therapist. He holds a PhD in Early Modern European History and is an ordained Teaching Elder in the PCA.

Prayer needs (or points of focus):
- For a heart that is Christ-centered and Christ-filled (Eph. 3:15ff).
- Wisdom and direction as they work to further establish and expand the work of ministry in Ghana.
- For the leaders with whom they work in Ghana. That God will enable them to embrace what they are learning and apply it effectively within their cultural context.
- For God’s continued provision of instructors and resources.
- Health and strength to do this work – especially under the rigors of travel.
- For Susan who keeps the household going while he’s gone. (She does travel with Dan on occasion, but she has family and work responsibilities that keep her close to home.)
