Duties, responsibilities, work emphases:
Nathan is the Campus Minister of RUF at Boston University, overseeing all aspects of the mission of "reaching students for Christ and equipping them to serve" both the BU campus as well as the Church. In RUF, he is responsible for leading a staff of two interns, training and discipling our student leaders, preaching weekly sermons, and teaching from the Bible through several other avenues. He launched the ministry in 2014 and is now in his sixth year, focused on building a ministry that will be sustainable for years to come.
A little bit personal:
Favorite pastime: Skiing in the winter and golf in the summer and fall. Seasons are everything in New England!
Favorite food: Mexican (especially burritos) for Nathan and seafood (especially lobster rolls) for Sarah.
Favorite book/movie: Brothers Karamazov (Nathan) and Catcher in the Rye (Sarah).
After leaving the Atlanta area to attend Clemson University, Nathan became closely affiliated with RUF during his senior year. Following graduation in 2007, he worked as an architect as his father had done. When the 2008 Great Recession caused Nathan to reconsider his vocation and to look elsewhere for his life’s work, he left the US for Bosnia to serve with Cru (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) at the University of Sarajevo. In 2011, Nathan returned to the States to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (South Hamilton campus) in Boston, MA, with the desire to become a RUF minister. He followed this calling 45 minutes across the city to Boston University where in 2014 he began a student ministry and in 2016 saw RUF formally established as an on-campus student organization a year after his ordination as a PCA pastor.

Prayer needs (or points of focus):
- Boston University has recently published their guidelines in response to Covid-19, canceling among other in-person classes and events, including all RUF in-person meetings for the rest of the spring semester. All undergraduate students are to return to their homes, where possible. Those who must stay in the Boston area must file an exception request to remain on campus. All academic work will be completed online. Please pray for the students and their faculty in these stressful and confusing times.
- Please pray that the RUF team will be able to effectively serve the BU students via virtual meetings and in-person counseling as it is needed.
- Pray that God would protect our students from disease and unsafe conditions.
- Pray for the RUF family at Boston Un. in their desire and ability to help those in need.
- Please pray that God would protect our students from temptation to drift away from Him.
- Please pray that God would protect our group from infighting and conflict.
- Most importantly, please pray that God would be glorified in all our work at BU!
