Duties, responsibilities, work emphases:
Jonathan has been working with Cru in Bosnia and Herzegovina permanently since 2010 following a first time visit there in 2003. Their work there for over a decade has been to bring young people together into a community where they can belong, believe in God, and become the people that God created them to be. They serve the poor, teach English, and bring students together every week from across the city. As part of their citywide outreach this summer, Jonathan and his team put on an English camp for teenagers called “SpeakOUT”. They had 45 local teenagers at camp every day from 10 AM to 4 PM, with additional social events during the evenings. During these hours, the team members were able to share their faith with half of the kids in the camp in one-on-one settings in a relational, meaningful way. Twenty-five of those came to a follow-up event at their church the next week.

A little bit personal:  Favorite pastimes, foods, books:

As for books, Jonathan likes “Collapse” by Jared Diamond, “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell, “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team”, by Patrick Lencioni, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”, by Oscar Wilde, plus others including various pod casts. For more recommended resources, check out his web site http://www.thebosniaproject.com/resources-things-like/. Eleven-year old son Tyler is an A student in math and likes science. He can also recite the story lines for each of the Minion movies and was getting to be an expert on Harry Potter stories but set those aside when they began getting a little too scary. Seven-year old daughter Hannah and Tyler like bowling, but Hannah really loves basketball. On the other hand, four-year old daughter Elena dances to any music she hears and has become quite proficient in cartwheels.

Jonathan and Ashley like to travel. They love to go on family holiday to a beach that is only an hour away from their home. Ashley likes to grow flowers and “other things” in the yard of their house, which is very close to school and kindergarten for their children.

The Trousdales still enjoy their favorite foods from home, including barbeque for Jonathan and Ashley, chili for Tyler, tomato soup for Hannah, and everything, especially pickles for Elena. Of course, a trip to the local McDonalds is a favorite family food event.

Prayer needs:
  • Pray for our students that God will work in their lives.
  • Pray in the aftermath of Nick Vujicic’s visit and testimony that souls will be saved and lives will be positively affected.
  • Pray that our team will be loving examples of God’s grace.
  • Pray for the Trousdale family as they seek to share God’s love and promise to their friends and neighbors.
  • Pray for God’s church in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that the Word proclaimed will bear sustaining fruit.
  • Pray that the Word of God and the Peace that passes all understanding will come to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
