Chiming of the Hour - Prepare your hearts for worship
Prelude - Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart
Marty Alexander, Organ
Welcome - Rev. Jamie Lambert
Call to Worship and Invocation - Marcus Dorsey
Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sits on the right hand of God,
the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge
the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Hymn 167 - When Morning Gilds the Skies
When morning gilds the skies, my heart awaking cries: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Alike at work and prayer to Jesus I repair: May Jesus Christ be praised.
When sleep her balm denies, my silent spirit sighs: May Jesus Christ be praised.
When evil thoughts molest, with this I shield my breast: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Does sadness fill my mind? A solace here I find: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Or fades my earthly bliss? My comfort still is this: May Jesus Christ be praised.
In heav'n's eternal bliss the loveliest strain is this: May Jesus Christ be praised.
The pow'rs of darkness fear, when this sweet chant they hear: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Let earth's wide circle round in joyful notes resound: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Let air and sea and sky, from depth to height, reply: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Be this, while life is mine, my canticle divine: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Be this th'eternal song, through all the ages on: May Jesus Christ be praised.
Interlude - Break Thou the Bread of Life
Pastoral Prayer - Rev. John Sutton
Doxology
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye Heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Scripture Reading - Luke 9:1-9
This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Sermon - Practical Experience
Rev. Jamie Lambert
Hymn 1 - All People That on Earth Do Dwell
All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
him serve with fear, his praise forth tell, come ye before him and rejoice.
The Lord ye know is God indeed; without our aid he did us make;
we are his folk, he doth us feed, and for his sheep he doth us take.
O enter then his gates with praise, approach with joy his courts unto;
praise, laud, and bless his name always, for it is seemly so to do.
For why? The Lord our God is good, his mercy is forever sure;
his truth at all times firmly stood, and shall from age to age endure.
Benediction
Postlude - Intonation, Interlude, and Fanfare on LOBE DEN HERREN

Evening Worship Service for June 28, 2020
Call to Worship - Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Invocation - Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Trinity Hymnal 469 - How Sweet and Awesome Is the Place
How sweet and awesome is the place with Christ within the doors,
while everlasting love displays the choicest of her stores.
While all our hearts and all our songs join to admire the feast,
each of us cries, with thankful tongue, "Lord, why was I a guest?
"Why was I made to hear your voice, and enter while there's room,
when thousands make a wretched choice, and rather starve than come?"
'Twas the same love that spread the feast that sweetly drew us in;
else we had still refused to taste, and perished in our sin.
Pity the nations, O our God, constrain the earth to come;
send your victorious Word abroad, and bring the strangers home.
We long to see your churches full, that all the chosen race
may, with one voice and heart and soul, sing your redeeming grace.
Reading of the Law - Exodus 20
I. You shall have no other gods before Me.
II. You shall not make for yourself an idol.
You shall not worship them or serve them.
III. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

Trinity Hymnal 498 - Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners!
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners! Jesus! lover of my soul;
friends may fail me, foes assail me, he, my Savior, makes me whole.
Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, he is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a strength in weakness! Let me hide myself in him;
tempted, tried, and sometimes failing, he, my strength, my vict'ry wins.
Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, he is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a help in sorrow! While the billows o'er me roll,
even when my heart is breaking, he, my comfort, helps my soul.
Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, he is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a guide and keeper! While the tempest still is high,
storms about me, night o'ertakes me, he, my pilot, hears my cry.
Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, he is with me to the end.
Jesus! I do now receive him, more than all in him I find;
he hath granted me forgiveness, I am his, and he is mine.
Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, he is with me to the end.
