COVENANT YOUTH
"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive
as his inheritance, obeyed and went,
even though he did not know where he was going."
(Hebrews 11:8)
"The Rock" is our name for Covenant's Youth Ministries. It's a meeting time for fun, fellowship, and sound worship and teaching. Our normal meeting time for The Rock is Sunday evenings, 6:00-7:30. We will have small group bible studies going on throughout the school year. Our desire at Covenant, and in particular with The Rock, is to build each youth up in the faith, so that they will respond appropriately to God's word. Youth in grades 6-12 are welcome to join us.
-- Jamie Lambert, Pastor's Assistant/Director of Student Ministries
REGULAR ACTIVITIES
YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL
Beginning in January will be an 11 week study on PRAYER LIFE -- our students will learn to pray the way Jesus did: like a child, coming as we are, asking anything, with eyes to see the Father's story unfolding in us.
THE ROCK
Topic: Why We Are Protestants? Islam is the second largest religion in the world, next to Christianity. Come and join us on Sunday Evenings at 6pm to discuss why we believe what we believe and how can we interact with those who do not believe the way we believe and in particularly those of the Islamic faith. The series will start in March.
HIGH SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wii
Wednesday
We will be studying the basics of the reformed faith series. The first study we will be covering is What is a Reformed Church? Youth, and for that matter, adults often ask, “What is a Reformed church?” or “What do you mean by Reformed?” Steve Smallman’s booklet helps us answer that question. Come and join us at Jamie’s house from 6:00 -- 6:50 PM. We will meet every Wednesday.
Following small group, we meet at Lafayette Nursing and Rehab Center to minister to the residents. Please join us from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. The address is 2110 Brandywine Blvd, Fayetteville.
FRIDAY BREAKFAST
Meet at the Southside McDonals for breakfast on Friday mornings at 7:30 AM for a time of fellowship, just hanging out and enjoying one anothers company before school. If you need a ride, we have students going to most high schools so you can get a ride from McDonalds to school.
Hope for the Intercity MISSION TRIP - April 5-9, 2010
YOUTH: What are you doing for your spring break?
What will we do on this mission trip? Sports Camp and Bible Clubs for 50-60 intercity kids AND we will do a mini work project on a widow’s house. So maybe you can do that for spring break?!?Cost: $250 covers everything from lodging, meals, transportation, to materials
Where: Chattanooga, TN
Check out their website: http://hope4theinnercity.org
We need a team and we need a team to assemble quickly. So please pray and please come back by March 5, with your positive response to go on this trip. There is a unique story behind this trip and Jamie will share it with you on March 7 after church at our first team meeting. (lunch will be provided)
Questions? Please call or email Jamie Lambert ASAP. Because of timing we will not be doing any fundraisers but please do not let money be the reason for not coming on this mission trip. This will be an intense, challenging, life impressible week. We can guarantee that. We need “athletic” AND “teacher” type people for this team. We will equip you for the mission before you go but you need to come with a teachable spirit and with a mature attitude.
