A -9 degree windchill won't keep Covenant Youth off the ski slopes! We headed to Wolf Ridge in North Carolina for a weekend of skiing on ice, hotel lobby singing, frozen shut vans, and epic candy kiosks. This newsletter is going to give you the decisions (the Weather) of the session. The purpose of this short, quick, to the point letter is not to give you the deliberations or even topics that are being talked about at the session meeting (the Forecast). To quote Si, from Duck Dynasty, this newsletter will be the the “facts, Jack.” We will send this out via email, post it on our website, and have hard copies for people on the information wall at the church. I am convinced we cannot communicate too much or too often. This will not be an exhaustive list of events or ministries; just some highlights. I encourage you to stay current by making yourself aware of what is happening at Covenant Presbyterian Church. If you see dates of upcoming events put them on your calendar so you can show up or, at the very least, pray for that event. As always, I operate on an “Open Door Policy.” My door is always open so please drop by, call, text, email--anytime. We are in this journey together. Pray for John as he continues to speak at different schools and events, that the gospel of Jesus would change lives.
Where have you heard a story about a Hero dying for the villains? Covenant students got to join up with Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian's youth ministry to think about that truth: that in the gospel Jesus, the True and Better Hero, saves us, the ones who have rebelled against Him! Our theme was "Hero". To go along with the retreat theme, there was weekend-long team competition and each team was named after a superhero. Iron Man and Iron Minion. Each person wore a cape representing their team. Super hero teams help each other fly... ... which is pretty tiring. A huge thank you to all who prayed for the retreat! It was an awesome time to grow spiritually and closer together as a group.
