He has conducted hundreds of seminars across the country as Training Coordinator for Christian Education and Publications of the PCA. Sue received a Masters Degree in Education from West Georgia College, taught in the public schools for seven years and has home-schooled for twenty-two years. She has been teaching children, youth, and women’s groups in the church for over twenty-five years. Who We Are

Our name has meaning. First, we worship a Covenant making, covenant keeping God. His covenant promises all originated with Him, for His glory and for man’s (our) benefit. A biblical covenant is a contract between God and man, initiated by an all-powerful, infinite, eternal and holy God. Because He is God, He cannot break these covenants (contracts) with man.

Second, Presbyteriandescribes our form of government. Presbyterian is a representative form of government, very similar in form to the government of the national, state and local governments in America. Like our civil government, we have rules and guidelines for how our governing bodies are to function. There are also rules to guide members for healthy, Christian relationships with each other and with the local church.

Finally, "Church." The word Church has come to be recognized by most as a building where people gather for worship and other activities related to their faith. Its origin, however, is in Scripture where those who accepted Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the Son of God, were collectively known as “the church” --- or the “body of Christ.”

We are a Presbyterian congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America denomination. We minister and serve people in the Fayette, Clayton and Coweta counties of Georgia on the south side of Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport.

As of December 31, 2006, Covenant is more than 300 members strong!

Our Mission is Helping People . . .

...joyfully

At Covenant we believe that man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Joy should characterize everything that we do. This is a genuine joy arising from our relationship with God.

...know Jesus Christ

This is the basis for being a part of Covenant Church and is the core of our purpose. Covenant is an outward looking church and we seek to introduce people to Jesus Christ. It is our desire that all who become a part of Covenant reach out to others and share what they have found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This goes beyond just our local church area. We also see this as worldwide missions. We are both a supporting and a sending church in our desire to help people everywhere hear the good news about Jesus Christ.

...love Him more

Knowing Jesus Christ involves growing to love Him more. Worship is, therefore, a high priority. In the experience of worship at Covenant we seek to recognize our rich traditions without becoming ritualistic. We are open to creativity that is in spirit and according to truth. Through an emphasis on Christian education, we provide continuing opportunity to grow and mature in our understanding of God's word and its application to our lives.

...and serve Him better

We believe that stewardship of self, time and possessions is a vital growth process in each Christian's life. We seek to assimilate people and provide opportunities for everyone to use their time and talent for the glory of God. We have a vision for "every member ministry" and seek to guide each one into a gift-based and heart-driven role in the church. Each objective is pursued with a reformed and biblical world and life view in the framework of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Anything accomplished will be done only through dependence on our sovereign God and His grace. As such the ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church will meet the needs of people and will be carried out with joy and with excellence.

30th Anniversary Letters

Covenant Church celebrated it's 30th Anniversary on Sunday, September 9, 2007

Heartfelt Greetings to Pastor Myers and to our Dear Friends at Covenant,

We received the invitation to the 30th Anniversary at Covenant.  If circumstances were otherwise Connie and I, as well as Abby and my Mother, would have enjoyed being with you for this great day.  Providentially, however, September 9 is also the anniversary of St. Andrews Presbyterian and we will be having special activities and worship that day as well.

It is hard to believe that we have now been gone from Covenant over a year.  The invitation itself caused a flood of memories to come back from our eighteen years with you.

  • The elder’s and member’s patience with a young pastor who knew a lot more in 1988 than he knows now!

  • The kindnesses to Connie and me and our four children who were raised among you.

  • The welcome to our parents when they came and joined us in Atlanta

  • The birth of our daughter Abby there in Atlanta.

  • Your support and love when my Father went to be with the Lord.

  • Your concert and love when I had the heart attack.

  • Your mission mindedness that sent me to Mexico, India, Pakistan, Hungary, Chile, and England.

Having been with you for joyful births, baptisms, weddings, and through painful illnesses and tearful funerals, we have a bond with you all that will always be there.  By receiving the church emails we have kept up on the news, both happy and sad, and yes, we have continued to pray for you.

There are some things that the years do not change.  Covenant has a great heritage.  It is encouraging that Pastor Myers was welcomed by Sam and Patricia who were in place leading music when I arrived in 1988!  The Bible is still being faithfully preached from the pulpit by your new pastor, a seasoned man of the Word.  As you celebrate 30 years of God’s Faithfulness, I know you are excited and optimistic about what this year and future will bring.

Connie and I will continue to pray for Covenant Presbyterian Church and if He tarries, ask the Lord to enable you to celebrate his faithfulness again and again in the years to come.

Thank you for the wonderful memories you have given to us.

              By Grace,

                                 Dale and Connie Welden

To our Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Carriage Lane Presbyterian PCA, Peachtree City, GA, its officers, staff and congregation congratulate our sister congregation, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, GA, on their thirtieth anniversary.  We praise God to your faithful gospel ministry and your testimony of being true to the Bible, the Reformed Faith, and the Great Commission.  Thank you for playing a significant part in planting our church and for your valued support and friendship over the years.

             Sincerely in Christ,

                        Rev. Dr. W. Douglas Griffith
